ISJ Spring 2021: In Memoriam 1. Gerard Renaud: Idealist and Visionary / Malcolm Davis
Many educationists are idealists, and some are visionaries. Gerard Renaud was both. He had the idealism of attempting to use education to change how the world behaved, wishing to create a new international order based on peace and mutual understanding. He was a visionary because he also saw the means to try and achieve his ideal. Some idealists and some visionaries have great ideas but can never realize them. Combining his idealism and vision Renaud, with dedication and sheer hard work, has left to all of us in education a lasting means of trying to create a new and better world.
