ISJ November 2016: Implementing assessment criterion F in the IBDP Extended Essay – What advice should supervisors give to candidates?

The IBDP Extended Essay creates opportunities for expressive and instrumental order learning. Expressive order learning includes the acquisition and development of perseverance and general study skills in the individual. This article examines the problems of one particular assessment criterion and proposes that evaluation of literature sources for validity, reliability and trustworthiness should play a more central role in assessment of candidates’ evaluative skills.
