Abstract:

Fundamentally, the three driving forces behind the vision of the International School of Geneva (ISG), founded in 1924, were then and still are today, child-centred pedagogy, internationalism and bilingualism. This short paper will outline some of the ways that these essential elements were addressed in the early years and how they continue to make the ISG a gold standard in international education today.

Before these three items are explored, the paper will argue why the ISG should be considered the oldest international school in the world and what the value of this statement is.
