This is an important book, or rather an important collection of commendably succinct, well-written and stimulating essays, from experts in their field: some are academics, some practitioners, some are both. This distinguished cast of authors is directed by their editor Caroline Ellwood who, as ISJ readers will not need reminding, has devoted much of her professional career to learning and teaching about Islam.
