ISJ Fall 2020: Powerful Pedagogy: Lessons Learned from our Remote Learning Experience / Alex Galland


As with many schools around the world, our pivot to remote learning at Canberra Girls Grammar School happened suddenly, with far more questions than we had answers. As IB PYP teachers, we turned to the IB Learner Profile for inspiration, and we vowed to be risk-takers: ‘We approach uncertainty with forethought and determination; we work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies. We are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.’ Looking at social media and blog posts from educators in other parts of the world who had already commenced remote learning, we saw lists and lists of possible technologies that could be harnessed for online learning and teaching.
