Abstract:

Humanity is facing multifaceted challenges that are interdependent at the local, national, regional and global levels. These challenges have numerous interlinked dimensions that may be cultural, social, economic, technological or environmental and cannot be solved from one perspective.

With globalization, economic and political considerations have had high priority while socio-cultural implications received lower priority. The interrelated nature of global issues presents a need for a holistic values-based approach to education, within a global context promoting intercultural understanding, equity, and quality of life as an intrinsic and sustained attribute in the personalities of learners.
