Abstract:

A jaded cynic might propose that there is a lot of public relations work posing as research in the field of international education. Tristan Bunnell offers a refreshing alternative to such a point of view. His main thesis is quite challenging – that the nature of the international school has changed in radical ways and that the study of the field requires a general reconceptualisation.

This book includes a literature review surveying the history of the field, and then introduces a critical chapter discussing the challenges in reporting the changing landscape of international schools. This is followed by a chapter that views developments from the perspectives of globalisation and, as one might expect from an author who is also an economist, there is also critique within a capitalism framework.
