Abstract:

This article is based on the keynote address given at the 2014 Conference of the Alliance for International Education on the subject of Reflection, Responsibility and Action at Mumbai, India, on October 10, 2014.

Teachers are well aware that the world is, and will continue to be, a very different place for the young people with whom they teach than it was when they themselves were in school. Young people today face, and will continue to confront, untold challenges that cross national boundaries and affect all aspects of life from the environment, the economy, to their personal health and global security.
