Abstract:

During the 2011-2012 school year, the Leysin American School (LAS) of Switzerland began a new option for teacher professional learning. A data collector, using an instrument developed at LAS, observed classroom interaction, recording quantitatively what the teacher and students were doing. Teachers worked with the data to reflect on classroom interaction and to monitor their self-selected improvement goals. Here we discuss this professional learning program, including the pilot semester, the first full year, and its future.
