It can be argued that the reduction of prejudice is a primary aim of international education, and few writers could have a more suitable preparation for writing this book than Conrad Hughes. Born and raised in the ‘Rainbow Nation’, he subsequently taught in the intellectual uplands of the United World Colleges and the International School of Geneva. He also worked for UNESCO, the International Baccalaureate Office and as a volunteer in his local (Geneva) fire brigade, giving him professional experience at a global level and community involvement at a neighbourhood level.
